Dear Coaches and Volunteers,

The growth and progress of our juvenile section in recent years has been truly remarkable. I extend my sincere thanks to all parents and guardians for choosing St Brigid’s for their children.

Most of all, I am deeply grateful to our dedicated volunteer coaches and mentors. Your commitment to coaching, nurturing, and developing our young players in a safe, progressive and happy environment is the driving force behind the club’s continued success.

St Brigid’s is at the heart of the Blanchardstown and Castleknock community, offering boys and girls the chance to play Gaelic Football, Hurling, Camogie, Ladies Football, and Handball from the age of four. Through our nursery, juvenile teams, summer camps, and school partnerships, we promote not just sport but also a healthy and active lifestyle.
Our coaches do far more than train teams—they create a positive and enjoyable learning environment, support player development, coordinate matches, liaise with parents and referees, and guide young players on their journey to adulthood. Many are former players, while others have joined through your children’s love of the game, all of you play a vital role in making St Brigid’s the thriving club it is today.

This handbook provides key information to support our coaches in your role, aligned with best practices from the GAA, LGFA, and Camogie Association. It offers a general guide to club practices and policies. It is also a working document designed to evolve as the club grows and changes. We strongly urge you to read it alongside the Code of Behaviour (Underage) (available here). I believe it is a critical support in ensuring all our young players reach their potential both on and off the pitch.

My sincere thanks to the Coaching Committee who led the compilation of this handbook – Keith Creedon, Fiona Murray, Collette Coady, David O’Connor, Eugene Kennedy, James Galvin, Mick Curtin and Coaching Officer Martin Kennedy. My sincere gratitude and appreciation to all of you who give your time, effort, and dedication to our young players and to St. Brigid’s.
