Senior Ladies
There was a hint of summer in Russell Park with very little wind which saw our Senior Ladies start their year with a home clash against Lucan Sarsfields.
St. Brigid’s were out to make a mark for the year firing home three first half goals by Caragh Courtney (2) and Eadaoin O Meara with the Brigid’s girls leading by 2 points at half time with a scoreline of 3-5 to 2-6.

The girls started into the second half with a touch of class from Amy Clavin who pointed from a narrow angle.
The home side were dominant midway through the second half, but Lucan Sarsfields fought back netting two goals of their own to bring the sides closer.
But St. Brigid’s dug deep and Rachel Brennan responded with a point for the home side after a perfectly weighted pass from Caragh Courtney.

Lucan Sarsfields looked dangerous in the final 10 minutes, but dogged defending and experience drove the girls to victory by 1 point.

Adult B Team
There was no change in conditions further north in Balgriffin where our second team travelled away to Trinity Gaels on a bright sunny evening also.
St. Brigid’s started the half with the wind in their favour trading scores with the home side including a cracking strike from Hannah Sweeney to bag a goal in the first half. The sides went in level at half time 1-2 a piece.
The second half had St. Brigid’s playing against the wind and despite their trojan defensive efforts were pipped at the end by 2 points in a cracking game by two evenly matched sides.
Trinity Gaels 2-8
