Congratulations to the U16 Camogie team of who completed the Division 1 league and championship double on Sunday afternoon when they defeated Na Fianna in a trilling game in Abbottstown on a scoreline of 2-04 to 0-07.
In May the girls defeated Kilmacud Crokes in Russell Park to win the league title. In very different conditions yesterday afternoon, the girls started very strong with excellent displays off skills, passing and off the shoulder running. The Naomh Bríd girls defended with ferocity to clear the lines and great credit to the Na Fianna girls who battled hard to end whistle.
It was very fitting the Phyllis Breslin, ex Uachtaran of the camogie association member of Naomh Bríd camogie for many years and Sheila Wallace ex Ar Stiurthòir, two women who’s love of the game of camogie cannot be matched, were on hand to present to the cup and player of the match award at the end.
Last year the girls came up short in a number of finals but they have shown great character to come back and win the double this year. They are a example to all of our juvenile players. Heartiest congratulations to all of the girls, their coaches, mentors and parents.
A big thank you to everyone who supports St Brigid’s Club Lotto and to our great Lotto Committee.
