St Brigids 0-7 v Garristown 2-8

St Brigids 5-9 v Clontarf 1-3

Our U13 girls had a busy week this week completing their U13 League matches.

First up was our top 2 clash with Garristown at home where we hoped to continue our unbeaten run.  However, Garristown turned out to a little stronger on the day and despite our girls having most of the possession, Garristown sneaked a couple of goals and held on until the end.

Brigids pushed and pushed for a goal in the last quarter but just could not find the net.  Garristown’s star player – a relation of Dessie Farrell, was very strong in midfield and kicked a few points with style to keep Garristown ahead.  You couldn’t fault Brigids. The girls never gave up and showed huge determination, fighting for every ball but just came up short in a thrilling game.

On Thursday, the girls hosted Clontarf in the final match of the League and never looked in danger of losing, coming out winners by 5-9 to 1-3. The game was practically over at half time as Brigids racked up scores.

We, as mentors of the U13 girls Div 5N team would just like to say a huge thanks to the players who have been outstanding this year so far. The girls have put in 110% effort in the matches and they’re rapidly improving. We should be promoted to Div 4 next year – TBC – but the girls should be really proud of their achievements so far this season – Played 9, won 7, drew 1 and lost 1.

Special thanks to the parents as always – great support to the team, for getting the girls to and from training and matches and for all the encouraging side line support.

Going forward, we have the Cup after the summer break and then we will prepare for next years Feile with strength and conditioning work and the raising of our stamina and fitness levels, as well as continuing our skills work.

Thanks again – These girls are a credit and a joy to coach. They show great support and encouragement for each other and are working and thinking as a team. Well done!
