The weekend of the 23rd May will see the 2015 Senior Singles Hardball Final between St Brigidâs Eoin Kennedy and Mayoâs Joe McCann, at a venue yet to be decided.
Kennedy had an excellent semi-final win against CJ Fitzpatrick on Saturday 9th May in Cashel. He lost a tight first game 21-19 with Fitzpatrickâs spectacular left hand kills, in particular, reaping dividends for the Limerick man. The St Brigidâs player however, showing his experience in handling difficult challenges, raised his standard over the next two games, coming out the overall winner on a scoreline 19-21, 21-14, 21-13. The previous weekend saw Kennedyâs quarter-final victory against Galwayâs Pat Conway in two games 21-10, 21-5.
In the Senior decider Dublinâs Kennedy will be seeking an amazing 8th All Ireland Senior Singles Hardball title while Mayoâs McCann will be attempting to win his first. Kennedy must start favourite to win back-to-back titles but knows that he must play at his best to ensure victory. McCann has shown excellent form in his quarter-final victory over Kildareâs Niall OâConnor on a scoreline 21-8, 21-20 and an even tighter semi-final win over his fellow county man Vinnie Moran 19-21, 21-18, 21-15.
Following his excellent come back 2014 year when he won both 60x30 hardball and softball All-Ireland senior singles titles, Kennedy still retains impressive motivation in maintaining the necessary fitness and skill to repel his younger challengers. We wish him the very best in this yearâs final.
