U13 Girls Footballers extend their winning streak! 2015-03-29 16:17:00

Division 5N  - St Brigids 3-8, St Monicas 2-3
Our U13 girls extended their unbeaten run against a strong St Monicas side on Saturday, winning by 3-8 to 2-3.
Monicas gave the girls a bit of a scare in the first half, even though Brigids were playing up the hill and against the wind. However, they overcame going behind early on to come back and win the first half.
The girls had the wind and slope in the second half and showed their overall dominance in the game by restricting Monicas to no score and pinning them into their own half.
Brigids backs had good games – Aoife Reilly, Ella Mansfield and Amy Boyle all played well. The half backs of Ruth Hanley, Sarah Higgins and Dara Loomes all had solid performances.  Ava Duignan knew she had been in a battle as she admirably managed to contain Monicas best player No. 8 Nikita Corrigan. Ellie Raftery had a great game and the half forwards worked tirelessly – Mia Malone, Zoe Galvin and Emma McGrath.
Ella Connolly (a lovely point scored), Grace Maher and Ella Curtin were all strong in the full forward line. And special thanks to Clodagh Ryan for stepping in as goalkeeper.
We had 4 girls playing for us from the U11 age group – Clodagh Ryan, Ella Connolly, Ella Curtin and Aoife Reilly – well done girls, you played brilliantly.
Girl of the Match – difficult choice but Ellie Raftery and Ava Duignan will share the accolade this week!
