Junior Hurlers Recover From Poor First Half to Beat the Barrs 2013-09-25 16:01:00

AHL7 - Phoenix Park; Sunday 22nd Sept, 2013

St Brigids 1-12 Naomh Fionnbarra 3-04

This game was a must win for Brigids to stay in contention to win the League.  They raced into an early lead with two points from Alan Thynne and Fergal Counihan. This was followed by a fantastic goal from James Reilly, he received the ball on the right wing and took off at pace to send the ball crashing into the Bars goal.  A lapse in concentration in the Brigids defence let the opposition in for two easy goals however before Noel Kidd and James Reilly added two more points before Barrs scored their third goal. This left the score at half time; Finbars 3-00 to Brigids 1-05.

Brigids introduced Maurice Sweeney for the second half and were rewarded with two fine points from the wing forward. The second half was nip and tuc all the way to the final whistle. Neil Plunkett added three points and Maurice Sweeney also got his name on the score sheet again. The win leaves Brigids in second place in the AHL 7 League table and keeps the pressure on the league leaders St Judes for the final round of fixtures in two weeks time. The lads have already secured a play-off place at the very minimum.
