AHL 1, AHL 5 and AHL 7 - Hurling Weekend Round-Up

Two goals in the final 5 minutes saw Lucan Starsfields snatch victory from the jaws of defeat as they somehow managed to claim both points in Friday nights AHL 1 clash in Russell Park. The Brigids men deservedly led for 55 minutes of the game as points from Paul Winters, Ruairi Dunbar and Ciaran Kellet looked to have Ger Ryans men in total control leading 0-15 to 1-08 as the game entered injury time, before two Sean McClelland goals gave the visitors the most unlikely of victories on a 0-16 to 3-08 score line.

Meanwhile, in AHL 5 our Inter hurlers maintained their unbeaten league form to remain top of the table as they saw off the challenge of Crumlin on Sunday morning, also in Russell Park. With Kieran O Sullivan in superb form from placed balls the home side led 1-08 to 1-07 at the break, Conor Morris with the goal midway through the first half. Two Macdara Butler points and a second Morris goal pushed the Brigids men further ahead after the restart and while Crumlin succeeded in reducing the margin to two points with 10 minutes to go, O Sullivans accuracy from 2 65s and from play sealed a 2-18 to 1-15 win for Brigids.

In AHL 7, our Junior Hurlers also remain top of the table after a thrilling win over Naomh Barrog on Sunday morning. Scorer in chief was Aaron Carolan who scored 0-07 in total, while the evergreen Noel Kidd was in superb form in second half scoring 0-03 from play. In defence Ciaran Dunne and David Brooks excelled once more for Tim O Learys men.
