Superb Second Half See's Junior Hurlers Topple Whitehall 2013-04-09 14:51:00

AHL 7 - St Brigids 3-12  Whitehall Colmcille 1-14

In AHL 7, newly promoted league winners from 2012 St. Brigids Junior team got their league campaign off to a great start with another comeback victory over Whitehall. It was very much a game of two halves, with Whitehall dominating the first half and they deservedly led by 1-08 to 0-06 at half time with young Dublin Minor Paddy Smith exceling from placed balls for Whitehall.

The home side came out a different team in the second half however and the momentum of the game began to change following a great save from Brigids keeper Tim O Leary, who hit a long clearance to Damien Fitzsimmons who finished the move to the net. This score lifted the home side and left three points between the teams. Neil Plunkett added a point from a free and two more goals from Fitzsimmons had the home side in a strong position as the game entered the final quarter. Whitehall fought back to reduce the margin to four but were met with strong resistance from Brigids half back line of Aaron Carolan, Ciaran Dunne and Rory Dunne who were outstanding through-out the game.

Also on Sunday in Russell Park, St Brigids Minor Hurlers continued their fine start to the season with a comfortable 1-17 to 1-04 win over Round Towers Clondalkin.
