The Old Dog For the Long Road as late O'Mahony Goal See's Seniors Past Crumlin in AHL 1 - Tue, 11 Jun 2013

AHL 1 - St Brigids 2-16 Crumlin 2-10

Our Senior Hurlers recorded their first AHL 1 win of 2013 despite missing several key players, in what to date has been a disappointing league campaign thus far for Ger Ryans men. Injuries and work commitments have taken their toll this season but a brilliant early score from Cathal Doyle set the tone as the lads finally began to show their excellent Championship form in the league.

Crumlin rallied after some early Brigids dominance to led 1-05 to 0-04 before Colin Lynch finished to the net after great approach play by Ruairi Dunbar. Paddy McAvinue kept the scoreboard ticking over with some excellent long range frees while the Doyle brothers did the same in the early stages of the second half with a point apiece.

The crucial moment of the game came when substitute Cian O Mahony used his years of experience to score Brigids second goal after fine work by Aidan O Leary which extended the home sides led to six with time running out. Some fine performances throughout, in particular from Sean Brady, Aidan O Leary and Brendan McEnerney. Speedy recovery to captain Mick Cussen who went of injured with a nasty looking hamstring injury. Next up for the lads is Ballyboden in a weeks time in AHL 1.

Scorers: Paddy McAvinue (0-07, 0-05f), Colin Lynch (1-01), Cian O Mahony (1-01), Cathal Doyle (0-02), Ruairi Dunbar (0-02), Dara Doyle (0-01), Brendan McEnerney (0-01), Conor Ryan (0-01)
