Veteran Kidd on the Double as AHL 7 Hurlers Make Winning Start 2014-03-04 20:50:00

AHL 7 - Faughs 1-08 St Brigids 2-10

Our Junior Hurlers began their 2014 season with a five point victory over Faughs in a rain soaked Tymon Park pitch on Sunday afternoon. Despite trailing 1-03 to no score after 15 minutes playing against a stiff breeze, the lads turned things around thanks in no small part to two poacher?s goals from veteran Noel Kidd.

The first goaled arrived just before half time after the Faughs keeper brilliantly saved Brian Condrons goal bound effort. Points from the returning Brendan Roche and David Greville reduced the gap further at half time to only two points.

Buoyed on with a strong wind at their backs and Kidds second goal, after good work from Badger O Halloran, the lads the led for the first time in the game and sealed the win with points from Ciaran O Reilly and Stephen Kelly as they ran out 1-08 to 2-10 winners.

Well done to the lads and to the new manager Sean Kavanagh on a debut win.
