Junior Hurling Championship Group Stage, Round 1

St Brigids 2-18 Crumlin 1-09

Our AHL 4 Hurlers made a winning start to their 2014 Championship campaign with a 2-18 to 1-09 win over Crumlin on Sunday morning in Russell Park.

An early Eoin Thynne goal, after he cut in along the end line before finishing to the net, gave the home side an ideal start as they led 1-05 to 0-04 playing against a stiff breeze at half time. Excellent work from the full back line of Greville, Tyrell and O Meara kept Crumlin to scores from distance.

The game opened up considerably in the second period with some fine scores coming from Luke Purtill, Feargal Counihan, Macdara Butler and Stephen Moore. A second Brigids goal from Badger O Halloran settled the contest before late points from Stephen Kelly, Butler and Purtill saw Brigids in control at the final whistle.

Next up for the lads is Ballinteer in Marley Park on May 11th at 11am.
