Early Goals Pave the Way For Senior Hurlers Against Na Fianna 2014-05-08 20:25:00

Senior Hurling Champonship

St Brigids 3-08 Na Fianna 0-09

Our Senior Hurlers followed up their first round draw with O Tooles with a fine 8 point win over Na Fianna in Wednesday nights SHC game in Parnell Park with first half goals from David Smyth and Kieran Kellett proving crucial.

At half-time the Russell Park outfit led 2-03 to 0-5 ahead thanks to the deadball accuracy of Paul Winters.

Na Fianna improved on the restart and Alan Nolan had to be at his best to deny AJ Murphy in the 39th minute.

Murphy went close again in the 43rd minute but was denied by a post but points from Martin Quilty and Aaron Jesson left the game in the balance.

However, two excellent Daire Plunkett points and late Winters goal four minutes from time settled it for the Russell Park men who now have 3 points from a possible 4, with Faughs still to play in their final group game.
