Senior Hurlers Ease Past Parnells to Make it 4 from 4 in AHL 2 2014-05-24 20:23:00

St Brigids 1-18 Parnells 1-08

St Brigids Senior Hurlers continued their fine start to the season with their fourth win from four games against Parnells on Saturday evening. The visitors to Russell Park, Parnells, came with high expectations after an impressive start to their debut Senior A championship campaign.

The early exchanges resulted in Brigids taking a 0-6 to 0-2 lead after 15 minutes. The free taking of Paddy McAvenue complimented by fine points from Dara Doyle and Ciaran Dolan. The lads stretched their lead out to 0-10 to 0-03 by the end of the half with the Russell Park men finding space around the middle for a succession of well taken points from Ciaran Kellet and from debutant Luke Purtill.

Parnells got a goal quickly after the restart and to give themselves a glimmer of hope but the response from Brigids was ruthless and soon the 7 point cushion was restored through scores from Daire Plunkett, Kellett and McAvenue. When Ruari Dunbar rattled the net with a fantastic individual goal with about 10 minutes left, the game effectively ended as a contest. The final score stood at 1-18 to 1-08 and Brigids remain top of AHL2, with 4 wins from 4.
