AFL 5 Footballers Impress as the Spoils are Shared in Kilbarrack 2014-07-01 20:07:00

Naomh Barrog 0-09 St Brigids 0-09

Our AFL5 Footballers came away from Kilbarrack on Sunday morning wondering what might have been after drawing 0-09 apiece with Naomh Barrog. Played in beautiful summer sunshine, Bren Farrells men led from beginning to end only for Barrog to draw level in the last 5 minutes.

Early scores from Simon McCabe and Lee Cummins had the visitors ahead 0-04 to 0-03 at the break, although if it was not for some wayward shooting, the difference may have been greater.  A youthful full forward line, made up of all minor players from 2013 (Costello, O Meara and Connolly) impressed in the second period as their ability to win frees saw the ever reliable Conor Calvin convert. However, three late Barrog frees saw them draw level and claim a share of the spoils.

Well done to Bren, Dan and Co who are beginning to show some promise after a difficult start to the season.
