Costigan Goal Seals the Deal for Inter Hurlers 2014-07-22 19:39:00

St Finains Swords 2-07 St Brigids 2-12

Our Inter Hurlers maintained their fine league form with a 2-12 to 2-07 win over St Finians in Swords on Saturday evening. In a game the visitors would lead from beginning to end, it wasnt until a brilliant individual goal from JP Costigan midway through the second half, that the destination of the two league points was finally decided.

Leading 0-08 to 0-04 at the break, helped by the accuracy of Keith Fox from placed balls, the Russell Park men should have been further ahead after letting some key opportunities go a begging.

However, second half substitutes Willie Tyrell and Neil Plunkett soon rectified the situation upon their introduction, with Plunketts darting run setting up Tyrell for the games opening goal. Finians replied with a goal of their own on the 45th minute before Costigans moment of magic sealed the deal for the Brigids men. Up next for the lads is the Championship Quarter Final V St Maurs on August 17th.
