Carroll Penalty Seals Important League Win for AFL 5 Footballers 2014-09-09 19:10:00

Fingal Ravens 0-12 St Brigids 1-13

Our AFL5 team managed by Bren Farrell and Dan Twomey built on their recent good form with a hard fought victory against Fingal Ravens in Rolestown on Sunday morning.

Brigids had a difficult start, losing both Conor Kelly and Ken Donnelly to injury in the opening stages, as Ravens took an early lead. Some fine long range points from Willa Corbett levelled matters and the teams entered the break at 6 points a piece.

Conor Clavin converted a 45 and a couple of frees in the second half to edge Brigids ahead. Fizzy Carroll was fouled in the square and scored a goal from the resulting penalty to put the team 5 points clear. Solid defending from Gearoid O Meara and Eoin Thynne kept Ravens at bay and ensured a 4 point victory for Brigids - 1-13 to 0-12.

The final league match is scheduled for Sunday 21st September at 10.30 at home to Ballinteer St Johns, a must win game. All support welcome.
