Mulcahy Hat Trick Steers Inter Hurlers Past St Judes in AHL4 2014-10-23 18:51:00

St Brigids 3-12 St Judes 1-12

St Brigids Inter Hurlers secured their place in the AHL4 promotion play-offs following a fine 3-12 to 1-12 win over St Judes on Wednesday night under lights in Russell Pk. Playing against a strong wind in the opening period, the home side got a dream start as full forward Brian Mulcahy fielded a brilliant high ball on the edge of the square before kicking the sliotar to the net Nicky English style.

Mulcahy would incredibly repeat the feat 10 minutes later, sandwiched between points from Stephen Moore, Keith Morris and midfielder Cian O Doherty, giving Brigids a 2-06 to 1-07 half time advantage.

The second half proved to be a much tighter affair, with both sides adopting to play a sweeper in front of their full back lines. While Judes succeeded in reducing the deficit to two points with some excellent free taking from their centre forward, Mulcahys third goal of the game gave Brigids the cushion they needed to see out the tie.

Well done to the lads who can now prepare for a league semi-final against Scoil Ui Chonaill in 2 weeks time.
