Minor Hurling Championship Semi Final
St Brigids 1-16 Ballinteer 1-13
St Brigids Minor A Hurlers booked their place in the Minor B
hurling final after a hard fought win over Ballinteer in Marley Park on
Sunday morning. Ballinteer got off to a better start going a few points
ahead before the visitors got back into the game with some excellent
scores from Kevin Callaghan and a couple of frees from Cian O Sullivan.
Brigids were on top until they conceded a goal late in the half, despite
an initial brilliant save from Michael Courtney, leaving Brigids
trailing 1-06 to 0-08.
Brigids started started the second half better with scores from O
Sullivan and Luke Purtill. The turning point in the game came midway
through the second half when the Russell Pk men were awarded a penalty
after a fine Luke Purtill run. O Sullivan stuck it over the bar and
straight from the restart Brigids attacked and got a goal through Mark
Donnelly. The lead was now five before Ballinteer battled back hard,
bringing the scores back to a single point. Not to be outdone, Brigids
pulled away with three late points, the pick of which came from Kevin
Callaghan, who claimed a sublime point from an acute angle at the death.
The lads now progress to the final in two weeks where they will meet Thomas Davis. All support is needed.
