Brigids Girls Guide Dublin U16 Camogie team to Victory over Tipp 2013-06-23 16:41:00

DUBLIN U16B Vs TIPPERARY, O TOOLE PARK SATURDAY 22ND JUNE

Dublin U16B squad got their All Ireland campaign off to a wining start at O Toole Park this afternoon. Played between beautiful sunshine and heavy downpours made for tricky and slippery conditions for both sides.

Against the wind the first half the Dublin girls were well on top but just could not convert to show it on the scoreboard. A solitary point was all that showed for wonderful effort in the first half. Tipperary however made the most of their few chances and had their eye for the target and managed 1-06 in the opening half.

But Oh to be a fly on the wall to hear what Pat Martin Dublin County Board Chairman and Manager of this team said at half time. Talk about a game of two halves. Pat Martin & Co-Manager Barbara Grennell of Oliver Plunketts calmed the nerves and put steel in the bellies because this Dublin B squad came out firing on all cylinders.

Now with the wind they set off to make amends and certainly showed the advancement that have been made within Dublin Camogie under Pats & Barbaras leadership. Inspired by the halftime speech the target could not now be missed and Dublin U16B racked up a score of 3 goals and 5 points in the second half to Tipperarys solitary point. Oh the joy to have been there to witness such a turn around and nothing that was not well deserved, for such was the skill and determination by one and all on this squad.

Final score Dublin B 3-6 Vs Tipperary 1-07

The St Brigids members of this squad are Katie Nyham, Niamh Mc Carthy & Sophia Martin
