Last gasp O Brien point sees Inter Hurlers over the line 2012-06-19 14:57:00

St Brigids 1-14 Faughs 2-10

This was always going to be a tight affair as just two points separated our Inter Hurlers and Faughs in the league table going into this clash on Tuesday evening. Brigids started the better with a goal inside the opening minutes from Eoin O'Brien while points from Keith Fox and Brian Mulcahy extended the Brigids lead. Faughs came back into the game and tagged on a few scores to leave just three points between the sides at the interval.

A goal within minutes of the restart for Faughs set the tempo for the rest of the match as the lead changed hands several times throughout the second period. Great defending from Joey Jordan, John Hanley and Glen Markey kept the Faughs scores to a minimum. Mick Galvin was immense at midfield and got a great long range effort, while an excellent Willie Madden point left the sides level going into injury time. Not satisfied with a point Brigids poured forward and won a late free which O'Brien duly slotted over to give the lads a vital one point victory, 1-14 to 2-10. Next up for the lads is Crumlin on Sunday in Pearse Park with a 12 o clock throw in
