Senior Hurlers Gain Valuable League Win Over St Judes 2012-04-12 12:46:00

St Brigids senior hurlers gained their first AHL 1 league points of the 2012 season with a vital two point win over St Judes in Tymon Park on Tuesday evening. The away side led from the throw in as points from John O Loughlin, Pat Rohan and Dave Smyth gave Brigids the best possible start. Despite losing wing-forward and free-taker Paddy McAvinue through injury before the interval, Ger Ryan's men remained undeterred and a well taken Dave Smyth goal right on half-time saw them lead 1-8 to 0-07 at half-time.

Judes responded well in the second half with a goal of their own and were it not for some excellent defending from Conor Woodgate and Aodhan McEnerney in particular, the Tymon North men could have entered the final quarter with a slender lead. As it was, it was Brigids who held the advantage and two points in a row from Daire Plunkett sealed a deserved victory for Ger Ryan's men.
