Egan on the Double as Inter Hurlers defeat Finbarrs in the League

St Brigids 3-09 Naomh Fionnbarra 1-11

Our Inter Hurlers recorded their fifth league win of the season and in turn gave themselves an outside chance of making the league final with a battling 3-09 to 1-11 win over Naomh Fionnbarra on Sunday. A brilliant early goal from wing-forward Shane Egan (above) put the visitors into an early led before points from Aaron Carolan and Cormac O Meara strengthened their advantage. Finbarrs responded with their excellent free-taker reducing the led to one with several long range frees before full-forward Stephen Moore out fielded his man and crashed the sliotar to the net to put Brigids back in front at the break.

The sides were level minutes after the restart as Finbarrs goaled, before Egan cleverly flicked home his second three pointer of the game to restore Brigids led. With Gearoid O Meara and Willa Corbett superb in defence, points from Seamus Lynam and two Willie Bourke 65s gave Brigids that vital four point cushion entering injury time and two more league points at the final whistle.
