Junior Hurlers get 2013 Season off to a great start beating Faughs in Cup

This game was played last Sunday in ideal conditions in Russell Park. The visitors raced into an early lead of three points before Brigids got their first score, a point from James Reilly. Neil Plunkett hit two points from frees to draw the game level. Disaster in the home sides defense, a penaltly was conceeded and a goal was the outcome.

Faughs added two more points from frees beforeNoel Kidd, who was very active in the forward line, added two points from play to leave the score at half-time, Faughs 1-05 to 0-05 for Brigids.

Playing down the hill in the second half Brigids started to play their best hurling. James Reilly added another two points from play to leave one point between the teams. Aaron Carolan playing at half back hit a long range point to level the game. Brigids conceeded another goal. but a free from Neil Plunkett raised their hopes once again.

Pat Rohan got on the score sheet with a lovely point and at this point Brigids were playing their best hurling and two more points from James Reilly and Neil Plunkett were added to the tally.

Eoin McDonald and Alan Thyne with chipped in with two solid performances to help secure victory for the home team.
