U11's Camogie Match Report; Naomh Brid v Ballyboden St Enda's

Team 1.

Game 1: The first half was a very tight affair. Dogged defence by Stephanie Creedon, Sarah Logan, Alex Healy and Emily Windsor kept the Boden forwards at bay. In goal Rachel O’Sullivan was performing heroics with save after save from Boden’s long range efforts. The midfield pairing of Emma Delaney and Aoibheann McCooey worked tirelessly to stem the Boden attacks. Midway thought the half Boden’s very skilful midfielder finally pointed to lead by the narrowest of margins.

Greater efforts from the Naomh Brid girls were urged by the parents on the sideline. A super puck out from Rachel landed on the opposition 45 and was skillfully doubled on by the speedy half forward Megan Kavanagh. Caoimhe Lennox at full forward was out first to meet the sliotar and deftly deflected the sliotar to the back of the Boden net. Amelia Higgins and Anna Eustace contributed handsomely in the forward line and were a constant menace to the Boden defence. Naomh Brid were in the lead as the half time whistle blew.

The second half was literally an uphill battle and the skillfull Boden midfielder picked off scores from long range efforts. The Naomh Brid girls battled gamely right to the end, which included a wonderfully executed hook.

Game 2: This was a much more even match. Emily went into goal and Rachel moved out to midfield. Similar efforts to above game and great battling by all.

Team 2.

Game 1: The game got off to a quick pace with the Boden forwards almost immediately attacking and shooting at the Nh Brid goal in quick succession. Nh Brid defense made up of Simone Tuthill, Caitlin Van Vunren and Sorcha O’Keeffe battled courageously to keep the Boden forwards at bay. Great team work was displayed again, in particular in mid field with Caoimhe Toland, Emma Gunn and Isabelle Foley making it difficult for the Boden mid fielders. Erin Dolly and Sally Gleeson took it in turn to stand in goals, made a number of fantastic saves and did a super job with the puck outs, relieving the pressure on the Nh Brid defense.

Alison Hiney, Laura Nunan and Niamh Cuggy playing up front made life very difficult for the Boden defense and showed great energy and enthusiasm in chasing down every opportunity and battling hard.  All girls played their best, showing great team work and commitment.  However, this game was definitely our most challenging and hardest game of the season with the Boden girls winning the game by a significant margin.

Game 2: This game was similar to the first game. Caitlin and Emma made fantastic blocks preventing the Boden girls for shooting at the goals. Alison moved into defense swapping with Simone. The girls never stopped battling until the referee blew the final whistle.
