St. Brigids  4-08         St Oliver Plunketts 1-09

This game was played in Russell Park last Sunday 13th Nov. A local derby with the winner being promoted to AHL6.

The Brigids team was made up of young and old who but they gel very well together.  Brigids went into an early lead with a goal and a point from team captain Keith Morris. Plunketts replied with 3 points from frees by their midfielder to keep in touch. The home side added 2 more points from Daire McGowan and one from Tiernan McGlynn. Then Sean O’Malley scored the goal of the game after receiving a pass from Michael Galvin, he beat two defenders before hitting the net.  Dan Culhane added a point for the home side on the stroke of half time to leave the score 2g 3pts for Brigids to 5 pts for Plunketts.

The home side were worried at half time as they had played with a strong wind advantage in the first half. From the throw in St Brigids got three quick points, two from Keith Morris and a great effort from Daire McGowan. Plunketts replied with a goal and two points.

Brigids introduced Ciaran O’Reilly and he made his mark early by scoring a goal and a point. Michael Galvin and Rob Keogh were outstanding throughout the game, they won a lot of possession and gave fantastic distribution into the forwards.  Plunketts threw everything at the Brigids defence looking for the goals they needed but were denied by Timmy O Leary in goals and Dave Brooks was rock solid at centre back.
