Regional Feile St Brigids and Rockbawn share the honours!
LGFA Regional Feile, Abbotstown
St Brigids reached the Final of the Regional Féile tournament held at Abbotstown yesterday 25th June. Coming in to the third of their group matche both St Brigids and Kilkerrin Clonberne were unbeaten and fought a tightly contested robin decider with a goal for St Brigids as the last score of the match to allowing St Brigids to progress to the final where they met Rockbán of Cork. This was an unbelievable game and even after extra time the scores remained level at 2-3 each. The game was to be decided on free kicks but before a kick would be taken both teams agreed that there would be two winners on the day and they would share the winners shield for 6 months each. St Brigid’s headed home with the shield to the clubhouse but Rockbán will return to the Dublin in 6 months to visit the club and get handed over the shield to return to Cork where St Brigid’s will then travel down to Cork to play a friendly. It was an amazing gesture by both teams and fitting end to great day of football at all venues for Regional Feile.
