Phyllis Breslin honoured at Camogie Congress   10/04/2021

The annual Síghle Nic an Ultaigh Award for outstanding service to the Camogie Association by an administrator was presented to Phyllis Breslin of Dublin and Naomh Bríd in conjunction with 2021 Congress. Phyllis has given great service to the Camogie Association as player, match official and administrator. Phyllis won an All-Ireland junior medal in 1975 and a national senior league medal with Dublin in 1979. As a referee she officiated at two All-Ireland Senior and two All-Ireland Junior finals. She chaired Leinster Council and was elected President of the Camogie Association in 1997. She was awarded a Dublin Hall of Fame award in 2012. Her term of office as President is associated with the transformation of camogie to a full 15-a-side game. As President she bestowed life presidency of the association on Síghle Nic an Ultaigh in 1998, so it is a lovely tie-in that Phyllis is now being honoured as the 2021 recipient.

Phyllis’s award was celebrated at Congress this morning and tribute was paid to Phyllis by Dublin Chairperson Jenny Byrne and by Marie Kearney of Munster among other Delegates.

Comhghairdeas leat Phyllis, from all of us.
