Senior Handball Players meet St Brigid’s Juveniles

On Wednesday evenings, handball coaches Enda Timoney and Jim Leen supervise St Brigid’s young handballers as they play on the club’s 40x20 courts and indoor 1-wall courts.

The juveniles were delighted to recently meet with St Brigid’s star senior handballers and current All-Ireland Champions, Carl Browne and Eoin Kennedy, who were joined by the senior Clare duo of Diarmuid Nash and Colin Crehan.

Following the photo opportunity the young handballers were able to watch the four senior players in action as they trained for their upcoming All-Ireland Senior Championships.

On Saturday last Eoin and Carl overcame a strong Cork pair Tadgh Carroll and Ryan Harkin in the last 16. They face the Funchion brothers from Kilkenny this coming Saturday in the quarter-finals and we wish them the best of luck in what promises to be a very competitive match.

Juvenile training is going from strength to strength with new players joining in on a regular basis. Juvenile handball in the Club will be further stimulated by the recent decison of St Brigid’s National school in Castleknock to install 1-wall handball courts in their gym hall. This should provide a great opportunity for young handballers to enhance their skills and improve their chances in inter-county competition.

Congratulations to St Brigid’s players Andrew Waldron and Conor Carolan who on Friday last won through in the Dublin U-14 League and will play each other in the upcoming final.
